Natural Balanced Interior Design, Inc.

Natural Balanced Interior Design is a full service interior design firm based in Los Gatos, California. What distinguishes us from many other interior design firms is simple:

  • We focus on contemporary, sustainable residential design. The interior design field is incredibly broad, which makes it difficult to excel and be knowledgeable in every style. While we are constantly looking for new inspriation through travels, learning about different cultures, applying new products and materials, we stay away from traditional, California mediteranean, "ornamental" and eclectic designs.
  • We bring in depth knowledge to your project, - from design concepts to ergonomics, from ligthing design to what's practically doable from a construction point of view. We believe design is not just a matter of taste, but has a lot of science to it as well. We are professionals with a complete education. We spend significant time on researching new products, new building methodologies, reviewing trade publications and attending trade shows and seminars.
  • If desired, we manage the implementation of the project. We want to be sure that the end result looks like what we described to you as the design. We can recommend contractors to you we have experience with and who we know can do the job properly. We schedule them for you and project manage the work. We'll be there to make sure they implement what we specified.

Maaike Linnenkamp - Principal

Maaike Linnenkamp is the principal of NBI Design. She founded her company in 2002 with the mission to make good interior design more broadly accessible. Carefully researching each project and involving her clients in the design process, she thrives on transforming non-descript living spaces into homes her clients feel genuinely attached to. Besides creating innovative, yet functional designs, Maaike has built her company’s reputation on taking projects smoothly from design concept to implementation. Maaike is a NCIDQ Certified Interior Designer, licensed General Contractor and Green Building Professional and maintains memberships with the US Green Building Council and the California Build it Green initiative.

 

Our commitment to the environment

Natural Balanced Interior Design, Inc. is committed to the environment and we try to adapt our business practices accordingly. This goes from driving fuel efficient cars, to planning and coordinating trips to minimize time on the road, to minimizing printing,  to stationary that has a high recycled content and is printed with soy based ink. While we are not on a mission to push green design, we believe that considering environmental and healthy alternatives where feasible and functional is one of the priniciples of contemporary design.
