A look at the dining space from the kitchen, prior to the remodel. Vinyl floors, bland white walls, and an awkward use of space did not support the kind of lifestyle our clients were looking for.

Everything must go ... The old kitchen has been removed, floors have been torn up and the rebuilding begins.
-
The new dining area is placed in the transitional space between the new kitchen and the living room, the space previously occupied by the old kitchen. The custom built in seating area allowed meeting clearance requirements, while providing sufficient seating space even for a larger group of guests. The backside of the cabinetry wraps around a structural post to the living area, providing storage space and a connection to the living area.

This is the view from the dining area into the new kitchen, which integrates beautifully with the many wooden, craftsmen style finishes and accents in the house.

The kitchen's focal point is the cooking area. The backsplash repeats the colors used as accents throughout the kitchen, using semi-transparent glass tiles. The asymetrical layout creates visual interest. Hiding the large stainless steel venthood behind paneling, ensures the venthood doesn't dominate the kitchen's look.

Sleek stainless steel, flat panel paint grade cabinetry, natural wood and granite create a harmonious blend of contemporary and craftsmen style elements. By keeping the countertop edges thin as opposed to the traditional large bull nose finish, the granite looks elegant, but not imposing.

Paying attention to every visual detail: small, unobstrusive, yet decorative light fixtures contrast with the dark, wooden ceiling.
